One person has been killed and at least 12 others injured in a mass shooting at a party in Oklahoma City on Saturday morning, according to reports.
Oklahoma City police said the shooting happened after a “verbal altercation” broke out between two groups of people at Patty’s Event Center around 12:30 a.m., and the fight spilled into a parking lot, where shots were fired, CNN reported.
“Those people then went back into the event center where the shooting continued,” Sgt. Jon Skuta with the Oklahoma City Police Department told CNN.
Skuta added that police believe the shooting was an isolated incident.
One person was pronounced dead and 12 others injured. Two were transported to hospital and are in a critical condition, while the rest are believed to have sustained minor injuries.
The names and ages of those involved in the incident have not yet been released.
No arrests have been made but multiple suspects have been detained for questioning. It is not known how many people were at the party at the time of the shooting.
“We are in the process of interviewing witnesses,” authorities told ABC News. “We will provide more details when we get them.”
The investigation is currently active and ongoing.
Newsweek has contacted Oklahoma City police via email for more information.
Patty’s Event Center is located on the 5800 block of South Agnew Avenue in the southwestern portion of Oklahoma City. The event center is located 3.5 miles east of Will Rogers World Airport.
It comes just days after another unrelated shooting in Oklahoma City in which one woman died.
Officers responded to a crash in the N MacArthur Boulevard area on Thursday night and found a woman who they believed was in a shooting before the crash.
Police said the woman fired off shots and seven officers returned gunfire.
The woman was taken to hospital and was pronounced dead. “After the collision, that suspect had a firearm and was shooting off rounds from that firearm,” said Capt. Valerie Littlejohn with OKCPD. “We don’t know if she was shooting at anyone or just shooting them off, you know, in the air or into the ground.”
All the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending investigation.
Meanwhile, five people were injured in two separate shootings in Bricktown, Oklahoma City, last Saturday night.
Three people were arrested in connection with the shootings. No information about the victims or the suspects was released.
